July 10th - 14th 2024

Dorset Divide

The Route…

WHEN?

10th—14th July 2024

The grand depart from the start point will leave at 5am on Thursday 11th July. Cut-off time will be 5pm Sunday 14th July. There will be a briefing and food served at the sign-up on Wednesday 10th July.

WHERE?

The route will start and finish at Portland Bill on the Isle of Portland, and follows a circular route around Dorset taking in its most spectacular views, exciting trails and country lanes. 2024 will feature a largely new route and some different trails to the previous editions, taking riders across new countryside routes and coastlines all around Dorset!

WHO?

Anyone is eligible to enter. However this is an unsupported route with some very challenging sections. We would suggest riders train for this event and consider some careful planning on how they will complete the route. It is meant to be a tough challenge and will not be easy. However as long as you are prepared then riding at your own pace within the time limits is very achievable for all participants.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS?

Entry requirements for edition #3 will require all participants to sign our terms and conditions (on the next page). Edition #3 will also require that all participants have their own valid liability insurance (ie British Cycling Membership or similar) and minimum kit list by the day of sign-up.

Minimum kit list consist of:

Helmet, safe working bike, front and rear lights, sufficient tool kit, warm jacket and an emergency Bivvy or sleep system.

DISTANCE?

The route is 330 miles (531km) with roughly 22,000ft (6705m) of climbing . There are steep and challenging climbs and descents, as well as fast and flat sections. We would suggest riders examine the route and plan carefully before arriving at the sign-up. The final 2024 route with any corrections will be released in early 2024. There will be 2 checkpoints staggered at roughly equal distances across the route.

SUPPORT?

This route is fully unsupported and there will be no support available or permitted. We will be out and about in the support cars for the duration of the event, and there will be a Whatsapp group for riders to contact us and ask for guidance in certain scenarios. Riders will also have GPS trackers provided for their own safety and for us to keep an eye on to make sure everything is ok.
